Tesla ASG and Showroom || Spring 2018

|| Design Process ||

CONCEPT - Tesla is a very future oriented company, growing from the past. I took this same philosophy into my design of my Tesla Auto Sales Group and Showroom. I looked to the past and used Franco-American designer Raymond Loewy as my base imagery. Loewy was employed by NASA and designed prototypes for the peak space age. He was rooted in futurism.  Other images in this concept include Nikola Tesla's notebook sketches of a UFO, the SpaceX spacesuit and the E in the Tesla logo, which uses negative/positive space to form the letter.

CONCEPT

MODEL - Material, time and weight are at the epicenter of my model. I created concrete stones and ice blocks. One material permanent and one temporary.

END RESULT - In the end, the curved glass exterior was the focus on my design. I created this massive architectural element to encourage movement. Movement throughout the space and visual movement of the eye. Tesla is designing cars with the future in mind and their offices and showroom should be a reflection of this philosophy.

Adobe Spark Storytelling Office Building - Podium Rendering

This Adobe Spark building is rooted around telling the story of Yosemite. This national park offers a different experience to every individual, while remaining constant throughout history. The reception desk, feature wall and stair all highlight a different element of this great monument.

 The desk is made of horizontal layers of glass, getting darker in color as they progress downward, to show the depth of water. The other part of the desk is made of vertical layers of different color granite. This is used to mirror granite found in nature, where layers of different colored rocks shows layers of history. The rock itself is a time capsule.

 The feature wall here is a scaled topographical map of Half Dome. Each layer of the map is 100' on half dome and extends off the wall a total of 3'.

 The stair here is made of different layers of granite, the same patterning as the desk. The exterior facade of the railing is similar to the railing hikers would find when ascending up the back of Half Dome.

Sketch Up Rendering - first attempt

The purpose of this project was to renovate a garage into a studio apartment for one. This was my first time using Sketch Up and rendering through Podium.

Drafting Floor Plans by Hand

Below is a floor plan, selectional, axonometric and perspective plan of an office space. This project was an assignment for a class to develop our drafting capabilities.
